hi, is this working? can you hear us? oh, this isn’t a podcast? ok great, we don’t know any influencers to interview anyways.

welcome to the weekly rundown, a sunday morning newsletter. our goal is to briefly put the previous week’s political & business news into context, helping you better understand why they matter. we’ll explain big ideas, emerging trends, and overlooked stories in an engaging and irreverent way.

our team includes:

  • Yunus is our editor. he fact checks, ensures our rigorous editorial standards are followed, and approves all content. Yunus currently works for a large technology company in north carolina as an engineer. in his spare time, he enjoys catching up on the latest Brooklyn 99, learning to cook while avoiding food poisoning, and providing tech support to close friends.

  • Ahmed is our publisher. he manages our little outfit, including data analysis, responding to our audience, and coordinating outreach to new subscribers. Ahmed currently works for a large ecommerce company in michigan as a manager. he is a branding enthusiast, lover of poetry in two languages, and a podcast mogul with a constantly expanding media empire.

  • Faisal is our writer. he subscribes to eight newspapers so the rest of us don’t have to and writes the first drafts of our issues. he graduated from Wayne State University with a BA in political science and Johns Hopkins University with an MS in healthcare management. Faisal is currently a medical student in maryland and the proud uncle of four nephew/nieces.

our editorial standards include:

  • we will always be correct and up-to-date.

  • we will always be transparent by linking to source material, using quotes when appropriate, and disclosing funding sources.

  • we will not always be balanced. not all news events have two legitimate sides to the story (eg climate change, vaccines, etc) and we won’t pretend otherwise.

  • similarly, we will be opinionated, but we will always allow data to drive our hypothesis, not vice versa.

  • we will (try) to be funny, knowing that jokes may sometimes be perceived as offensive. we will never be intentionally offensive, derogatory, or defamatory.

contact us if you think we’ve failed to live up to these standards.

views expressed in our newsletter do not necessarily reflect the personal opinions of all of our team members.
